Speaking opportunities

As an Olympian and Two-time World Champion skier, I have learned that the challenges of the mountain are not that different from the challenges of life. Yes, it might look intimidating to stand on top of a snow-covered mountain, ready to drop in on a 2,000-foot vertical line. But if you’ve taken a risk in your company or your career, you know what it’s like to take a leap. There’s fear, there’s risk, and there’s no guarantee. There’s also an opportunity for great rewards.

I travel to remote mountains and stand on top of peaks, knowing the dangers involved once I descend the vertical ski slope. I don’t do this because I am fearless, but because I work hard to embrace my fear.

It surprises people when they find out that I have fear. I am an Olympic-level athlete who went on to become a top big mountain skier. Along the way, I had to push through my fears of high-speed crashes and avalanches, as well as fear of failure, injury, and death. I spent years trying to overcome my fear, but I discovered that I couldn’t. Instead, I have learned to embrace my fear and work with it. In this discussion, I will share my techniques and tools that have helped me move forward not only in my skiing profession but also in everyday life.
